Safety of women

Safety of women matters a lot whether at home, outside the home or working place. Last few crimes against women especially rape cases were very dread and fearful. Because of such crimes, women safety in India has become a doubtful topic.(around 4,037 incidences). Chennai is the capital of southern state of Tamil Nadu however has been marked as city with high rate of crimes against women. However, it was seen some decrease in the crime rate against women in the subsequent years (around 838 by 2013). It has been recorded as the largest fall in the crime rate than other cities in India. It was just opposite in the capital of India, Delhi. Crime rate against women in Delhi was 17.6/100,000 females in 2000 (2,122 incidents) and 151.13/100,000 females in 2013 (11,449 incidents).
Some of the most common crimes against women are rape, dowry deaths, sexual harassment at home or work place, kidnapping and abduction, cruelty by husband, relatives, assault on a woman, and sex trafficking.
Some Tips Regarding Women Safety
• Self defence techniques are the first and foremost thing to which each and every woman must be aware of and get proper self-defense training for their safety. They must be aware of some effective defence techniques such as kicks to groin, blocking punches, etc.
• Generally most of the women are gifted with sixth sense which they must use whenever they become in some problem. They should at once avoid any situation which they feel bad for them.
• Escape and run is also a good way to reduce some risks of women whenever they become in problem. They should never go with any unknown person alone at some unknown places.
• Women must understand and feel their physical power and use accordingly. They never feel themselves weak than men and take some self defence training.
• Pepper spray can also be proved as a useful self-defence tool however it has a drawback that some people cannot be harmed through it even after full-face spray. It may not stop the attacker so women should not depend on it completely and use other techniques also.
• Women should be very conscious while driving the car and going to any trip. They must lock all the doors of car while travelling with own or private car.

Responsibilities of a Fire Security Officer

Security Officer, also known as a security guard, is likely to be the first person at the scene of a fire at his workplace. The role of security officers during emergencies such as fires varies depending on the demands and expectations of his employer and expectations should be thoroughly documented and explained before the guard shows up on site.
Prevention - A Security Guard should always watch for potential fire hazards while patrolling or maintaining post. This can include unusual sparks or heat from electrical equipment or storing combustible or flammable items near heat sources.
Phone Calls - If there is an alarm going off, smoke or other signs of a fire, a security officer may be expected to confirm the fire. Once he has visually confirmed a fire, he may be expected to activate the fire alarm (if it's not already ringing) and call the fire department. He should also call his Supervisor or client to inform them of the situation.
Evacuation - If the fire occurs in a crowded area, like a shopping mall, the Security officer should follow employer's emergency procedures. This will most likely include helping to direct the crowd to the nearest emergency exit. With large crowds, there may be crowd control duties both inside and outside of the structure, along with helping to direct emergency personnel when they arrive on the scene.

Threats to Consider Before a Physical Security Audit

A Physical Security Audit is designed to help a client to accurately determine the best mix of products and systems to optimally enhance the client’s physical security situation. This audit consists of inspecting the client’s site, premises and existing Physical Security systems to identify shortfalls, with an eye to finding solutions to remedy vulnerabilities.
Before conducting such an audit, the Physical Security Auditor should first assess the level of 6 specific threats to the client, in order to frame their subsequent recommendations in the correct, most effective context. This context maximizes the auditor’s chances of identifying the most real and pressing vulnerabilities to the client in their actual priority, and coming up with the right solutions.
Here are the 6 threats to be considered:
1- Nature
2-Location
3- Building Condition
4- Infrastructure
5- Human Resources
6- Budget

By taking these 6 threats into account before beginning the audit, the auditor will be in the right frame of mind to do the  Physical Security Assessment accurately, and in line with  Physical and economic reality. Having such context improves the chances of the client being receptive to the results, and the solutions derived from the audit being effective and appropriate.

Skill Development

PLN9 Skill Development InstitutePLN9 Security ServicesSkill Development
Over the next decade India will have a surplus manpower of 4-5 crore and emphasized the need to provide this youthful manpower with skills and ability to tackle global challenges. official warned that the demographic dividend would otherwise become a challenge in itself.
"And the demographic dividend India is proud of, it's guarantee lies with skill and trained manpower," he said.
Official said that while in the 20th century the IITs made a name for themselves globally, now in the 21st century ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) should acquire global recognition for producing quality skilled manpower. He also called for constant updating of training programmes and syllabi to ensure that the youth are exposed to the latest technology and industry environment. Linking the necessity to promote both apprenticeship and entrepreneurs, the official said that it was important to predict the possibilities of the future and prepare for them today itself.
The launch of the mission assumes significance as "India currently faces a severe shortage of well-trained, skilled workers. It is estimated that only 2.3% of the workforce in India has undergone formal skill training as compared to 68% in the UK, 75% in Germany, 52% in USA, 80% in Japan and 96% in South Korea. Large sections of the educated workforce have little or no job skills, making them largely unemployable. Therefore, India must focus on scaling up skill training efforts to meet the demands of employers and drive economic growth", the document on the framework of implementation of the National Mission for Skill Development said.
According to the note of implementation, more than 54 percent of the country's population is below the age of 25 allowing it with an opportunity to provide a skilled workforce to fill the expected shortfall in the ageing developed world.
"The country’s population pyramid is expected to bulge across the 15–59 age group over the next decade. This demographic advantage is predicted to last only until 2040. India therefore has a very narrow time frame to harness its demographic dividend and to overcome its skill shortages," the document said.

Anti Corruption Strategic Policy of Current Government

Current government Strategic policy has already broken the chain of corruption.
Unmindful of the growing political opposition and risk to the traditional political constituency of the current government on Sunday stepped up the ante in what he alluded to as the crusade against corruption.
Following up on the move to partially demonetize the currency undertaken last week, current government warned of an imminent crackdown on benami properties—the enabling law came into effect on 1 November.
“This would be a legislation-backed offensive against benami properties,” In the words of supreme leader.
By positioning the fight against corruption as a means of empowering the poor, government has made it difficult for political opponents—some of whom have called for a special discussion on the withdrawal of high-value bank notes in the upcoming winter session of Parliament.
Claiming that the mandate in the general election of 2014—which gave the current government a majority of its own in the Lok Sabha, the first for any political party in 30 years—was against corruption, Leader said he was bound to deliver on his electoral promise; and wouldn’t be discouraged by sustained attacks from the political opposition. In a tacit admission that the transition of currency demonetization is not going to plan, leader made a direct appeal to people.
“The world is progressing and this disease of black money and corruption is giving India a bad name. The future of 800 million Indian youths below the age of 35 is at stake and we owe this to them,” Leader said.
The evil of corruption has been spread by certain sections of society for their selfish interest. They have ignored the poor and cornered benefits. Some people have misused their office for personal gain. On the other hand, honest people have fought against this evil.
Current government appeals the public to join this festival of integrity and credibility, to enable coming generations to live their lives with dignity , to fight corruption and black money, to ensure that the nation's wealth benefits the poor , to enable law-abiding citizens to get their due share.

Government Strategy Against Black Money

Though Current Government pulled off a major coup today to check black money, he had laid its foundation over two years ago, soon after coming to power in May 2014.
Though today's unprecedented financial measure may have come as a rude shock to many, Current Government also gave enough opportunities and threw enough hints in this regard. However, he waited for the festival season of Dussehra and Diwali to get over.
The first such initiative came when the current Government, in its very first Cabinet meeting, constituted a Supreme Court-Monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Black Money.
This was followed by the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojaya (PMJDY) on August 28, 2014. Prime Minister took personal interest in the scheme. He made it a mission to ensure that the scheme was successful. The scheme will be of immense help in the present circumstances.
Had the bank accounts not been opened? the people would have faced immense problems. But not now, at least for those who have bank accounts. Till date, 25.45 crore accounts have been opened so far and Rs 45,302.48 crore has been deposited in these accounts. A total of 20.28 crore accounts have been opened in the public sector banks - 11.39 crore accounts in the rural areas while 8.90 accounts in the urban areas.
The scheme was launched to bring back black money stashed in foreign countries and tax havens. The scheme ended on 30 September, 2015. The Act also had various stringent provisions for penalty and prosecution of foreign black money holders unearthed during future investigation by the tax department.

Important Security Measure:-

1- CBR :
Since the early 1990s, concern that terrorists might use chemical, biological and radioactive (CBR) materials as weapons has increased steadily.
2- CCTV :
CCTV should form only part of a whole security system; it should not be used on its own. It cannot replace security staff, although it may permit a reduction in their number or their redeployment to other security activities.
3- Explosives and ballistics protection:
Most terrorist bombs are improvised and so are known as improvised explosive devices (IEDs). If you believe your business or organisation might become the target of a bomb attack, you should assess the threat and potential damage and plan how to prevent or mitigate it.
4- Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) :
Vehicle-borne threats range from vandalism to sophisticated or aggressive attacks by determined criminals or terrorists. The mobility and payload capacity of a vehicle offers a convenient delivery mechanism for a large explosive device. The HVM section contains policy and good practice guidance that will help practitioners to determine the vehicle-borne threat, assess site strengths and vulnerabilities, and provide options for HVM.
5- Lighting and obscuration:
Lighting can be an important security measure, but may in fact assist an intruder if used incorrectly.
6- Perimeters and access control:
Keep access points to a minimum and make sure the boundary between public and private areas of your building is secure and clearly signed. Invest in good quality access controls such as magnetic swipe identification cards or 'proximity' cards which are readable from a short distance.
7- Secure destruction of sensitive items :
The destruction of sensitive items should be undertaken via a secure process. This section provides those responsible for information assurance and physical security with best practice guidance on the need for a secure destruction process, the development of robust procedures, and approved destruction equipment manufacturers and service providers.
8- Search and screening – explosives and weapons detection :
Organisations may use search and screening measures to detect specific items and materials entering (or leaving) their buildings and sites; effective search and screening measures may additionally have a significant deterrent effect.

Home & Staff Security:

Using CCTV systems to monitor the cash registers is a good way of keeping track of transactions and those using the cash registers.
Control your staff and save thousands:
Do you know what your staff is doing? Do you know what time they arrive and leave, what time they take off for cigarette breaks and how long they chat to their friends? With the minimum wage increasing, your staff could be costing you more than you think.
The ability for managers to see what is going on throughout their business from their own offices or desks greatly saves on time every day and allows them to get along with their own work rather than spending a lot of their time checking up on everyone else. By reorganizing your staff to work more efficiently you could save yourself a lot of money per year.
Home Security:
Home CCTV systems are increasingly becoming more popular as a more cost-effective way of protecting homes, outdoor areas, such as driveways and gardens from intrusion and other crimes.
A single camera system will allow you to record everyone coming to your house. Connect it to your broadband and you can view your house across the Internet. Having a few cameras on your holiday home will allow you to check up on it on a regular basis simply and easily.
Besides the many advantages listed above, one of the key reasons that contributes to the popularity of CCTV surveillance system is the advancements in technology. CCTV systems have come a long way from being cumbersome, expensive and complex systems requiring expert help to simple, easy-to-use systems that are easy to configure, easy to maintain and reasonably priced. Moreover, the new range of surveillance systems offer more options, clarity and versatility than before.

The Private Security Industry

The private security industry is enjoying a period of great prosperity and growth. Throughout the States, uniformed private security guards now patrol many locations, including schools, banks, hospitals and apartment buildings, protecting both life and property. Residents of some areas even have found it necessary to supplement the municipal police force. They have hired private security companies to provide twenty-four hour vehicle patrols of their neighborhoods.
Accordingly, protective services are the third fastest growing occupation in the States. Some studies estimate that over one million people earn their living in the private security industry. This figure greatly exceeds the total number of public law enforcement employees." Notwithstanding the availability of job opportunities in the industry, there are numerous problems endemic to employment as a security guard. Wages typically are low' and risks can be high, especially if the guard is armed. Although union membership among security guards has increased, collective bargaining has been unsuccessful in alleviating the occupation's problems.' This failure of collective bargaining is an unsettling fact, given the staggering damages that could result from a major labor dispute in this industry. This Note explains and analyzes the unique provision of the National Labor Relations Act (the Act) that governs unionization of guards, and proposes a consistent approach for the courts and the National Labor Relations Board (the Board)", to follow in cases concerning security guards. The adoption of this approach should improve the quality of collective bargaining in the industry by creating greater stability in bargaining relationships.
